From the Runway to the Streets: Building Team Blue Jacket
Under the lights of New York Fashion Week, the runway told a powerful story. But the real story started before anyone stepped onto it.
Where It All Began
For ten years, Frederick Anderson has used fashion as more than expression—he’s used it as a platform for purpose. What began as an idea to get men talking about their health has grown into a national movement, bringing together fashion, sports, media, and healthcare to raise awareness around prostate cancer and the importance of early detection. The Blue Jacket Fashion Show has always been about visibility. This year, it became about something more.
Taking the Mission Beyond the Runway
This was the year Team Blue Jacket came to life.
Built in partnership between the Blue Jacket Fashion Show and Man Cave Health, the goal was simple: take the spotlight from the runway and carry it into the community. Turn awareness into action. And in the days leading up to the show, that’s exactly what happened. Across Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, men made a decision.
They showed up.
They stood in the cold.
They pushed past hesitation.
They chose to get screened.
No cameras. No runway. Just courage.
What Courage Really Looks Like
It doesn’t always look like a spotlight moment. Sometimes it looks like a quiet decision. A conversation with a friend. A step into a screening van. A willingness to know your number. That’s what we saw in the days leading up to the show—and that’s what defines Team Blue Jacket. Because awareness starts the conversation. But action saves lives.
Standing Shoulder to Shoulder
Moments like this don’t happen alone.
We’re grateful to stand alongside partners like Northwell Health, who continue to help bring access and care directly into communities.
We’re grateful to Frederick for a decade of vision and leadership—creating a platform that has helped normalize conversations men too often avoid.
And most importantly, we’re grateful to every man who showed up and became part of Team Blue Jacket.
More Than a Moment
The runway will always matter. It brings attention. It starts conversations. It creates energy. But what happens outside the venue—that’s where change begins.
That’s where outcomes shift. That’s where lives are impacted. That’s where this work lives.
What Comes Next
If this week proved anything, it’s that the model works.
Meet men where they are.
Build trust.
Make screening accessible.
Turn awareness into action.
Team Blue Jacket is just the beginning.
Thank You
To everyone who walked, supported, screened, and believed—thank you for helping us build something bigger than a moment.
We’re proud of what this has become.
And we’re just getting started.
